Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines via the web.

The 47-year-old was likewise about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, stated: "It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

"These types of items being sold, typically online, have gone through no quality assurance and there can be no warranty about their security.

"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
